Who's it for?

This is 2 - day residential course, based from Loch Insh outdoor centre. This beginners course is perfect for people who have never been in a sea kayak before and would love to spend two days learning the basics in a calm, controlled environment.

On Day 1 we will start at our base on Loch Insh where we can just walk to the water. We will look at basic skills and how to control the kayak, followed by a short trip and some rescue sessions if people are feeling adventurous.

Day 2 - Weather dependent, we will drive north to the sea, either Hopeman, Findhorn or Inverness. We will put our skills into practise in the sea environment and go for another journey. Some basic tidal knowledge and route planning will also be part of the day.

Accommodation - This will be at Loch Insh Outdoor centre, in our own private chalet with a hot tub! The accommodation will be sharing a twin room and a communal bathroom and kitchen between 5 or 6 people. I will cook the first nights meal on Friday evening and we will have this together and have a chat about the next two days. We will have to check out of the chalet on Sunday mornning before we go kayaking. It will be a sociable weekend..
